I qualified as a pharmacist in 1999 and started my career at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. I have been a hospital clinical pharmacist since then, working in respiratory medicine since 2008. I qualified as a non-medical prescriber in 2012, and I prescribe for patients every day in my practice, agreeing on medical treatment plans with them and the healthcare teams I work with.
In my daily interactions with patients, I have observed that some can benefit from approaches beyond medication. While many medicines are effective for certain diseases, there are cases where they may be addictive, cause harm, or fail to address underlying conditions. This is often seen in areas such as mental health, pain, inflammatory conditions, and conditions related to the mind-body connection like IBS and even smoking.
In 2020, during the Covid pandemic, I personally sought therapy and found hypnotherapy beneficial. This experience led me to pursue further learning in this field. I completed my meditation teacher training in the following year, and during life coaching, I was encouraged to pursue my goal of becoming a holistic healer within three years.
By December 2024, I obtained my Hypnotherapy Practice Diploma and NLP practitioner certificate. My plan is to continue working in pharmacy while developing my hypnotherapy practice. I have also trained in meditation, mindfulness, life coaching, sound therapy, and tarot cards. Please feel free to ask if you are interested in any of these areas.
I am trauma-informed and completed my paediatric training in February 2025. I am consistently seeking further education and plan to undertake additional training in trauma/PTSD and pain management, along with other areas of interest.

Although I recognise the value in addressing various issues without medication, I do not advocate stopping or changing your medication without consulting your healthcare provider, usually your GP. I am willing to work with your GP if necessary. As your hypnotherapist, I cannot prescribe, adjust, or advise directly about your medication, but I can offer general guidance if needed. For example, if you wish to improve pain and stop your painkillers, we can collaborate with your prescriber to ensure no sudden changes to your prescription occur. Gradual changes are important to avoid withdrawal effects from many medications, which can be serious.
I am committed to continuing professional development. I am already doing further training and qualifications to bring you the latest techniques and research at the cutting edge.
At DMC Hypnotherapy, I believe in a personalised approach to hypnotherapy. Each session is customised to address your specific challenges, ensuring that you receive the most effective treatment possible.
I understand that every individual is unique. I will work closely with you to develop a tailored hypnotherapy plan that aligns with your personal objectives to help you live the life you desire and achieve your goals.
